Panama Seizes Contraband Goods Worth $30,000

Panama's customs service seized goods at a warehouse in La Chorrera for lack of supporting documents. Over 50 boxes of various products, including cigarettes worth $30,000, were confiscated.


Panama Seizes Contraband Goods Worth $30,000

On Thursday, the Customs Prevention and Control Directorate (DPFA) proceeded to seize merchandise stored in a warehouse located in the Barrio Colón district of La Chorrera, in the province of West Panama.

Tires, electrical appliances, and more than 50 boxes containing a variety of products were confiscated in this operation. DPFA inspectors indicated that the warehouse owners could not present documentation to support the purchase of the merchandise.

In addition, boxes of contraband cigarettes and tobacco products worth $30,000.00 were also seized. All confiscated merchandise was transferred to the Customs headquarters in the capital city for the corresponding procedures and the initiation of rigorous investigations.

It is worth noting that during the "Operation Christmas Without Smuggling", which began on October 1, the DPFA has seized: liquors, cigarettes, agricultural products, and others with an estimated value of one million, seven hundred fifty-two thousand, three hundred seventy-one balboas.
